How do I clean up duplicate links or tags?

Use the Maintenance page to detect and merge duplicates:

  • Duplicate Links — groups links by normalized URL (tracking parameters like utm_* are stripped). The oldest copy becomes the canonical; all tags are merged in and missing metadata is filled from the duplicates.
  • Duplicate Tags — groups tags with the same name case-insensitively (e.g. “JavaScript” and “javascript”). Keeps the oldest tag, moves all link associations to it, then removes the duplicates.

Both tools preview the changes before you commit — you can review every group before running cleanup. Always export a backup first.

Can I undo a cleanup operation?

No — cleanup operations permanently delete the duplicate records. There is no undo.

Always export a CSV backup before running cleanup. The Maintenance page has a prominent “Export Backup Now” button at the top, and you can also export from the account menu at any time.

Can I export my data from Link Crypt?

Yes! We believe in data portability. You can export your entire Link Crypt library at any time:

  • Export all links, tags, and metadata
  • CSV format for compatibility
