Import browser bookmarks into Link Crypt

Export an HTML bookmarks file from Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge, then upload it in Link Crypt. All four browsers use the same Netscape-style HTML format Link Crypt expects.

Before you start

  • You need the desktop browser for export in most cases. iPhone and iPad Safari do not offer a full “export all bookmarks to HTML” option like Mac Safari.
  • After export, you get a single .html file (sometimes shown as “Bookmarks” without an extension).
  • In Link Crypt, open the menu (☰) → Import Links, choose Browser Bookmarks (Chrome/Safari/Firefox/Edge), and upload that file.

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome on your computer.
  2. Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right → Bookmarks and listsBookmark Manager. Shortcut: visit chrome://bookmarks in the address bar.
  3. In Bookmark Manager, click the three dots (⋮) in the blue toolbar → Export bookmarks.
  4. Choose where to save the HTML file (for example your Desktop or Downloads folder).

Chromium-based browsers (Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, Opera) usually follow the same pattern: bookmark manager → organize menu → export.

Safari (Mac)

  1. Open Safari on your Mac.
  2. In the menu bar, choose FileExportBookmarks…. On some macOS versions the item may appear as FileExport Bookmarks….
  3. Pick a location, name the file if you like, and click Save. Safari writes an HTML bookmarks file.

If your bookmarks are synced with iCloud, export on the Mac where the library is up to date. For bulk moves from iPhone or iPad alone, use a Mac (or another browser that syncs from iCloud) to produce the HTML file.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Open the Library (bookmark organizer):
    • Windows / Linux: press Ctrl + Shift + O, or ☰ MenuBookmarksManage bookmarks.
    • Mac: press + Shift + O, or menu bar BookmarksManage bookmarks.
  3. In the Library window, open the Import and Backup menu.
  4. Choose Export Bookmarks to HTML…, then save the file.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge on your computer.
  2. Click Settings and more (⋯) → Favorites to open the Favorites pane.
  3. At the top of that pane, open More options (⋯) → Export favorites.
  4. Save the HTML file when prompted (for example to Downloads).

If you do not see Favorites under the main menu, open Settings (⋯ → Settings) → Profiles and use the Favorites section there; the same export option appears via the favorites “more” menu.

Edge is Chromium-based; exported favorites are HTML, like Chrome, and work with the same Link Crypt import option.
